Billing for Assisted Living Services

ResiDex Billing is straightforward and flexible to use. It accommodates a wide variety of billing needs including package levels, fee for service and a combination of the two.  The ResiDex billing system also accommodates multiple payer scenarios and allows you to print monthly invoices.  Summary reports are available that help you keep track of your billing data.  ResiDex Billing fully integrates with the rest of the ResiDex "family" of assisted living software components.

Care Packages (Levels)

A care package (sometimes called a service package) is a commonly used approach to billing for assisted living services. Using this approach, the facility may have several (or even many) levels of care. You specify the current level of care, along with an effective date. Then, until the level changes, the fixed charge you specify for that level will be billed monthly.

One option that we also support is the Rent+Care Package. With this approach, the resident still pays a fixed fee, but the fee includes rent and services.

Fee for Service

 Fee for Service billing allows the facility to charge for services "as delivered". Some of the options within the Fee for Service billing approach in ResiDex include:

Variable Rate Pricing   

Where the charge will vary based on the amount of time it took to provide the service. For example, with 15-minute increments: the service was delivered in 15 minutes or less, the resident will be charged for 1 increment. If the service took 20 minutes to provide, the resident will be charged for 2 increments. Laundry Services at Assisted Living Campus

Fixed Rate Pricing

Here the cost of the service will vary based on how many times the service is delivered, irrespective of the amount of time the service took. 

Fixed-Count Pricing

Here the service is charged by unit count of service provided. This is commonly used for laundry where we may charge by the load.

Combination of Charges 

ResiDex accommodates a combination of charge types. For example, many facilities have some clients who they bill on a Fee for Service basis, and others who they bill on a Care Package basis. Other facilities will have everyone on a package, but also provide some services that are not included in the package fee, and thus are charged on a Fee for Service basis.

Other Charges

 ResiDex handles a wide variety of "other charge" capabilities. For example, there are systems to: • Charge for any fixed monthly recurring charge (like telephone or cable)

  • Charge back for supplies used by the resident 
  • Track resident deposits received or still due 
  • Charge for miscellaneous expenses incurred through the facility. (like Massage Therapy, Beauty Shop or Deli charges)  

Special Billing Cases

We will accommodate any billing scenario. Some of the scenarios we currently support include: 

Multi-payer Billing 
Where, for example, the county will pay for part of the residents' fees. 

Multi-org Billing 
Where, for example, one entity owns the real estate and another owns the service agency, requiring that two invoices be generated from ResiDex.

Billing the State
Where special service logs must be maintained for the relevant services the state is reimbursing the facility for.
